Where do you build?
On Lake Gaston, on both the North Carolina and the Virginia side. Posted jobs include Lizard Creek and Stonehouse Creek in North Carolina, and Pea Hill Creek, Delbridge and Joyceville in Virginia. If your cove is not on that list, call and ask.
Can the slip and the roof be sized for my boat?
Yes. Every build is laid out with the owner. One customer describes getting an oversized slip and raised roof heights to suit their needs.
Do you build docks and piers, or only boathouses?
Both. Posted work includes walkways to shore and open deck platforms, and the one public review is from a customer who says Twin Lakes can build a new dock or replace an old one.
Do you install boat lifts?
Yes. Lifts go in after the roof is on. A typical job post reads: "Boatlifts are installed. Ready for electrical."
Do you do the electrical work?
Job posts mark the boathouse as ready for electrical once the lifts are in. Ask Burwell how the wiring is handled for your build.
Do you build in winter?
Yes. On the Serenity Shores job the piles went in on January 12 and the roof was complete on February 19, 2026. The company has also asked customers to get on its fall and winter construction schedule.
How long does a build take?
It depends on the design. Two real examples: Serenity Shores went from piles to finished roof in about five and a half weeks, and a fall 2025 job went from pile driving on September 20 to lifts installed on October 14.
Shingles or a metal roof?
Both appear in finished Twin Lakes work: shingled hip roofs, and white and blue metal roofs.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. "Licensed and insured" is printed on every Twin Lakes sign. Ask Burwell for the license and insurance details your permit file needs.
What about permits?
Docks and boathouses on Lake Gaston need a shoreline permit (Dominion Energy administers the shoreline management plan for the lake). Talk to Burwell about how the permit fits into your schedule.
What does a boathouse cost?
There is no price list, because every build is laid out around the owner's boat, shoreline and wish list. Call or send the details and you will get a real number for your project.
